Want fries with that Plasma Welding Torch?

The other day a customer called from gasoline alley in Indianapolis. “Any way you can hook me up with a Double Double?”

No, that’s not a welding term, it’s one the best burgers you’ll ever have– In-N-Out– a Southern California legend. By focusing on top quality, fresh ingredients and made-to-order burgers cooked the way you want, they’ve managed to take “fast food” to a whole ‘nother level.

That’s what we do at Arc-Zone.com– we deliver best-in-class welding supplies to customers worldwide– but sending a Double Double– even UPS Red– wasn’t practical. However, our Customer Care Team went to lunch at In-N-Out and just for fun picked up some decals and a hat and we sent it along with the order. Our customer called the next day and said, “I am so impressed with your products, the packaging, reference materials, and decals! I’m setting up Arc-Zone as my preferred welding supply vendor!”

Now I’m not saying we’ll send In-N-Out hats with every order, but please let us know if you have a special request, something you don’t see on our website, or a kit you’d like customized and give us a call– tollfree at 800.944.2243 (US) or 1.760.931.1500 (worldwide). We’ll even hold the pickles, and get you exactly what you need to Weld Like A Pro!

Sincerely,

ANOTHER NEW ROSIE

A common thread among many women welders is that they were first introduced to welding by a man in their lives. Laura Knight is no exception. “I started welding copper water lines with a plumber and then married an air conditioning technician who welds steel, and I learned wire feed welding from him,” she says. She now works as a metal artist.

ARC-ZONE.COM(R) ADDS SAFETY APPAREL

Arc-Zone now features Revco Industries high quality, high-performance protective wear. Company president Jim Watson is excited about the new apparel. “We’ve finally found a line of clothing that not only offers protection, but looks good.”

In addition to welding gloves, fire resistant clothing, and leather welding gear, the Arc-Zone.com offerings include BSX– Black Stallion(R) Xtreme Gear.
ARC-ZONE.COM(R) GETS A TUNE UP!

It wasn’t that long ago that Arc-Zone.com launched its new ecommerce site filled with top quality, high performance TIG, MIG and Plasma Arc Welding and Cutting accessories. Since then, we’ve been making improvements on the back end, and adding new products but if you haven’t stopped by in a while, check out the new look and the bold new graphics, thanks to our rockin’ web team.

WHAT WOULD JOE WELDER(tm) DO?

We got a call from a customer TIG welding high-end aerospace parts. He bought a complete setup from us a few years ago, a WP-20-25-Pro(tm) package by Arc-Zone with all the goods needed for his new TIG machine.

The reason for the call was that the customer has now specified out a TIG torch with vinyl plastic gas hoses. We were all a little perplexed. We generally recommend the rubber leads as opposed to vinyl. They are more flexible and easier to handle.

Find out why the customer wanted vinyl hoses….

ANOTHER NEW ROSIE

Stefi Beck doesn’t look like a welder– at least not when she’s doing a show at a local coffee house in Toronto. A singer, songwriter and guitar player, Beck is coming into her own as an artist, but for the time being she earns her living as a Steamfitter Apprentice.

Read about Stefi Beck at CarmenElectrode.com, and let us know if you– or a woman welder you know– would like to be featured!

WHAT WOULD JOE WELDER(tm) DO?

Tungsten for Robotic TIG Welding
Bob, the welding engineer for a manufacturer in Georgia was having TIG welding problems, from poor arc start to inconsistent arcs. Plus, they were going through a lot of tungsten…. find out what Joe Welder(tm) recommended….

Optimizing Your Plasma Arc Welding Equipment
A large industrial company was experiencing poor weld quality with their Thermal Arc(R) Ultima 150 Plasma Arc Welding machine … read Joe Welder’s recomendations…

CALLING ALL WOMEN WELDERS

There’s been a lot of talk lately about the welder shortage:

    * Solving The Welder Shortage: he nation is starving for welders. Here’s how you can make a difference. by Jim Horvath
* Solving the Welder Shortage One Tinkerer at a Time, Miller Viewpoints
* Where Have all the Welders Gone by Ilan Brat, Wall Street Journal

And there’s been a lot of talk about why women don’t become welders: the job is too tough a job, too dirty, etc. The fact is there are a lot of misconceptions about what kind of work welding is, and what kind of women weld– and at Arc-Zone.com we’d like to change that.

We’re initiating a new regular feature for our CarmenElectrode.com site, Women in Welding, and plan to feature women welders. If you are a woman who welds, or know a woman who welds, let us know…. details online.

Read our first installment, Debra Montgomery, Woman Welder.

Welders are always asking what the proper stick-out is for the tungsten electrode on a TIG/GTAW torch according to Arc-Zone.com’s president Jim Watson. “That’s a tough question,” he says, “because there are so many variables from which front-end parts are being used on the torch to the specific welding application.” ….continue reading –>
